Recovery as a Triangle

Lots of our members are visual people.  I am one of them.  So I drew a triangle as described in Hope for Today, in the order of importance with my Higher Power on the very top and the basic Al-Anon tools below the Higher Power.  In the middle of the triangle are My Physical, Spiritual and Emotional Health and at the bottom of the triangle are my job, my family, my friends, and my hobbies. Now I connect the three stars with three straight lines and I have the Triangle of Recovery in front of me.

HIGHER POWER
Basic—Core Al-Anon Tools—
The Steps, Traditions, Concepts of Service,
Slogans, Meeting, Service, Sponsorship,
And Conference Approved Literature.

  Physical,
  Spiritual, and

Emotional
Health
*____________________________*
Job, my family, my friends, and my hobbies.

In my daily life when I am obsessing about something or someone; I need to ask myself “who or what is on top of my recovery triangle?”  If I have some-one else or something else on top of my triangle than I am usually in trouble and I need to do something about it.
